  • How do I care for my glasses?
For optimal maintenance of your eyeglasses, employ a gentle touch with a soft cloth for cleaning to ensure their clarity is preserved. Avoid using alcohol on the lenses. When not in use, store them in a glasses case to shield against scratches. Should they become loose or uncomfortable, visit our office for necessary adjustments. As a VIEW patient, you are entitled to one year of complimentary adjustments, lens cleanings, and a comprehensive one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty covering both lenses and frames.
  • How do I care for my contact lenses?
For optimal maintenance of your contact lenses, it is essential to consistently wash your hands with soap and water before handling them. When not in use, store your contact lenses in their case with an approved solution; avoid sleeping with them, and never share them with others. Regular visits to the eye doctor are crucial to ensuring the ongoing health and happiness of your eyes. During these contact lens examinations, our doctors will offer personalized instructions on the proper care for your specific lenses.
  • What should I bring to my first appointment?
For your initial appointment, please bring your current glasses or contact lenses, along with a list of medications you're taking. Additionally, be prepared to discuss your family's eye history, and remember to bring any relevant insurance cards or information. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to our office, where we strive to create a warm and caring environment. Feel free to ask any questions about your eyes during your visit, leaving with confidence in your eye health.

  • What kind of tests do you offer?
Retinal Imaging - this scan replaces dilation for most patients and provides early detection of eye diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or cancer in the eye. OCT Imaging - this scanning technology provides detection of macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic macular edema and more. Visual Field Testing - this test evaluates your peripheral vision and can help identify conditions like glaucoma, brain tumors, and more. Corneal Topography - this scan identifies corneal irregularity which helps us to fit special contact lenses and make recommendations for patients with diseases and dry eye.
  • Do you provide emergency eye care services?
In the event of an eye emergency, promptly contact our office to schedule an appointment for the proper care of your eye health. Avoid attempting to address the issue independently. It is recommended to seek assistance at our office for any eye concerns instead of heading to the emergency room or urgent care. This ensures that you receive tailored and specialized care for your eyes.
  • How often should I have an eye exam?
Regularly consulting with your eye doctor on an annual basis is advisable to ensure the health of your eyes. This examination serves the dual purpose of maintaining clear vision and detecting potential issues early on, mitigating the risk of vision loss in the future. If you ever experience discomfort or notice blurred vision, it is essential to promptly schedule a visit to your eye doctor.
  • When should my child have their first eye exam?
Prioritizing eye examinations for infants and young children is crucially important as certain early eye issues may have lasting effects on their vision. It is recommended that every child undergoes a comprehensive, in-person eye examination between the ages of 3 and 5 to ensure proper development of vision and to detect any potential signs of eye disease. Thanks to modern diagnostic equipment, a child doesn't need to know the alphabet or how to read in order to undergo a thorough eye examination.
  • Is a vision screening the same as an eye exam?
It's crucial to understand that a vision screening differs from a comprehensive vision exam. Vision screenings have limitations and cannot serve as a diagnostic tool for eye or vision problems; rather, they signal a potential necessity for more thorough evaluation. Vision screenings are typically conducted by pediatricians and schools. While valuable, it's worth noting that they may overlook up to 60% of children with vision issues.
  • If I have diabetes, how often should I get my eyes checked? How does diabetes affect the eyes?
The presence of diabetes can lead to blood vessel leakage or tissue swelling in the eyes. These occurrences may occur before noticeable symptoms manifest. Consequently, the American Diabetes Association advocates for individuals with diabetes to undergo a retinal examination at least once annually. If you have diabetes and experience symptoms such as blurry vision or difficulty seeing, it's crucial to promptly inform your eye doctor so they can conduct a thorough examination. Maintaining control over your blood sugar levels is essential for promoting the health of your eyes.
  • What should I expect during an eye exam?
Our eye exams at VIEW Killeen are the best in class, exceptional care beyond normal expectations. We use the latest technology to evaluate your ocular health and screen for any eye diseases. We are dedicated to helping you VIEW life more clearly!
  • What are the signs of an eye infection or injury?
If you experience sensations such as itchiness, watering, or discomfort in your eyes, it may indicate a potential infection or injury. In such cases, it is advisable to arrange an appointment with your eye doctor. Additionally, if you observe redness, swelling, or encounter difficulties in clear vision, seeking attention from your eye doctor is essential. Refrain from excessive eye rubbing when experiencing discomfort, and avoid using any substances not prescribed by your eye doctor.
